Book of the day: There's a Nightmare in My Closet, by Mercer Mayer

We are big fans of Mercer Mayer here at Monk's Trunk; he is not only an illustrator par excellance (he drew the characters in my favorite childhood book series, the Great Brain) but as an author in his own right. There's a Nightmare in My Closet is one of his finest, a sweet and absorbing tale about a little boy facing his demons -- in this case, a closet-sized monster who turns out to be more fearful than he. It's an ideal bedtime story, one that may even help allay fears of the dark. Highly recommended.
