Based in New York City, Monk's Trunk sells high quality, gently used children's clothing (sizes 0 to 8), as well as books and toys. Got things you want to sell? We pay in cash, up to 40% for clothing and up to 60% for toys/gear after an item sells. Or, for those who don't want to wait, we pay 25% for items we buy outright. Details here.

Monk's Trunk annual sidewalk sale will be held in one week, on Saturday, September 14th, from 10 am to 4 pm. You'll find loads of gently used infant and toddler clothes,
children's books, puzzles, toys, and baby gear at unbeatable prices.
Most clothing will run about $2-3. Be sure to come early for the best selection: this sale tends to be a bit of a zoo.
A followup sale -- where remaining items sell for $1 -- will be held Sunday, September 15th. (Apologies to our Jewish customers, as Saturday is Yom Kippur, but we have to hold our sale on the same date as our block party, a date we didn't choose.)
Profits from the sidewalk sale will benefit the Prospect Park playgrounds.
Cold or no cold, we're having a sidewalk sale today. It's our winter clearance, with most items $2-3! Come on down!
We had scheduled our annual winter sidewalk sale for last weekend but had to cancel due to snow. We're hoping to have better luck this Saturday. Of course, if it rains or snows again -- or if the temperature drops below 30 -- we'll have to postpone again. (We will not be holding the sale on Sunday but will probably add a second day the following weekend.)
WINTER SIDEWALK SALE
Everything from $1 to $4!
Saturday, February 2nd*
11 am to 5 pm
(store will be open from 10 am to 6 pm)
*Weather-permitting. Check our website or Facebook page for updates.
Sorry, folks, we're going to have to postpone our big sale until there is no precipitation on the ground. We'll let you know the new date as soon as we have one. (We're thinking maybe a week from Saturday...)
You know how we do a massive sidewalk sale at the end of every summer? Now we're adding another clearance sale, at the end of winter.
Our first Winter Sidewalk Sale will be next weekend, Saturday, January 26 and Sunday, January 27, weather permitting. (If there is any snow on the ground -- even if it's not actively snowing -- we will need to postpone to a later date. Watch the website or our Facebook page for details.)
We will also be doing a special Preview Sale this coming Monday, January 21. Again, weather-permitting.
Like our end-of-summer sale, almost everything will be $1 to $4, and prices will drop toward the end of the sale. Unlike our summer sale, proceeds will benefit Monk's Trunk rather than Prospect Park.
Yes, we are no longer in denial: The weather
today sucks. We have, however, brought in the bins for boys' sizes 18m to 2T
so if you're interested in that size you are welcome to take a look
today. We also have some winter coats and costumes in bins that you are
welcome to check out. But the rest will have to wait until tomorrow.
I've been going through this morning and marking down things that have been in the store over 30 days 25%. Lots of bargains to be had. Here are a few examples.
Tea Collection dress, 6, now $9
Jusami crow (on American Apparel tee), now $4.50
Flowers By Zoe super soft tie-tye pant, sz 5, now $6
A guy who runs a hiphop paraphrenalia for adults accidentally ended up with some children's shoes and brought these in. We have four pair, priced $7.50 to $12; sizes 12 to 1.5.
We've gotta make room for some new spring arrivals, so I've been pulling tons of the fall/winter stuff. There will be large bins for uber-cheap girls' and boys' basics, most $2-3! Gymboree and Guess hoodies, Gap blouses and skirts, long-sleeve shirts, misc. dress and track suits, and.... you get the idea.
Sure, we'll have a Black Friday sale - why not? On that day, all of our non-consignment toys will be on sale for 25% off. We may be known for our consignment but we got plenty of delightful gifts and stocking stuffers in store as well. Most everything is under $15 and well over half of our stock is under $10!
Here are just a few things you'll find on sale Friday.
PAPERTOY MONSTERS. One of the coolest craft books ever. Though designed for older kids, little ones would be delighted to "help" build these fantastic paper toy monsters. See it in action here.
FACEBOX. A quirky stencil and pen set that allows kiddies to make thousands of different faces.
KAZOO. Any kid who has seen Lloyd Miller's festive take on "Sweet Geogia Brown" will appreciate this colorful metal kazoo - one of the easiest instruments around. And on sale for $1.50!
ART-TO-GO DELUXE KIT. A handy all-in-one travel pack with 12 colored pencils, 12 oil pastels, 8 watercolors, 1 paintbrush, and 6 markers.
