WHY CONSIGN WITH US?
- We pay 40% of the sales price on most clothing items (25% for items $5 or less); 50% for gear costing $50-$99; 60% for gear costing $100 or more.
- No appointment necessary! Come by any time during store hours. Or make an appointment for off-hours.
- We pick up! (Caveat: Premium and designer labels sized 24 months to size 8 only for pickup purposes. Details here.)
- Don't want to consign? We buy up front as well, paying 25% of the sales price for clothing and more for selected gear
- We'll buy out of season items (spring and summer) as well as winter.
- We pay in cash, not store credit.
HOW IT WORKS
First, please inspect your things carefully before offering them for sale. Clothing we buy must be in resell-able condition: clean, pressed (if necessary), and free of any staining or noticeable wear. Unfortunately, we can't accept bargain brands such as Target (Cherokee, Circo, etc.) or Children's Place unless they are new or otherwise exceptional.
All incoming items must be enclosed in plastic bags or lidded bins. If items cannot fit in bags, please call in advance before bringing them in.
CONSIGNMENT. Monk's Trunk prefers to work on a consignment basis. With consignment, you'll receive a percentage based on the sales price, after an item sells. The percentage you received is based on the actual sales price. The breakdown is as follows:
* 60% for items that sell for $100 or more;
* 50% for items $50 to $99;
* 40% for items $6 to $49;
* 25% for items $5 or less

SELL OUTRIGHT. If consignment won't work for you, we also buy outright. For most items, we offer 25% of the sales price paid by check in the mail (or you can pickup cash the following day, if you prefer). Note that we are pickier with things we buy outright than with consigned items, and we almost never buy baby clothes outright. For high-demand items such as umbrella strollers (MacLaren, UPPAbaby), we pay much higher fees.
Regardless of whether you are consigning or selling, all lots of clothing received will be subject to a heat treating fee: $2.75 per laundry load. This fee will not be charged up front but will be deducted from your earnings.
You may bring things by any time during store hours. If you have a lot of items (over 40), you may want to call in advance. If we're too busy with customers to inspect items that moment, you can always drop them off. Please see "drop and run" below for details.

We will pick up (non-infant) designer clothes from neighborhoods in Brownstone Brooklyn. See our pick up info.
DROP AND RUN
With Drop and Run, you can drop off consignments whenever you want to, without prior planning. We'll write your receipt that day and email it to you the next day, or even later the same day. If there are items we are unable to sell for you, we can donate them directly to charity, or, if you'd prefer to have them back, we'll be happy to hold them for a day or two. We don't have a lot of storage space, though, so be sure to return promptly.
In order to use "drop and run," you'll need to sign our drop and run agreement first. If you're a first-time consignor, we'll also need a copy a signed copy of the consignment agreement. Any clothing dropped off without a signed agreement or express permission from Monk's Trunk becomes the property of Monk's Trunk and may be sold, donated, or recycled at our discretion.
Sorry, but we cannot accept cribs or other large furniture items. Please email us ahead of time if you have any questions about what we can and can't take.
