HOW IT WORKS
First, please inspect your things carefully before offering them for sale. Clothing we buy must be in resell-able condition: clean, pressed (if necessary), and free of any staining or noticeable wear. Unfortunately, we can't accept bargain brands such as Target (Cherokee, Circo), Old Navy, Carter's, or Children's Place unless they are new with tags.
You may bring your things in at any time -- no appointment necessary. However, if you have a large quantity, you may want to call or email us in advance. For exceptional lots of boutique items, we'll work with your schedule and even, on occasion, pick up.
All incoming items must be enclosed in plastic bags or lidded bins. If items cannot fit in bags, please call in advance before bringing them in.
CONSIGNMENT. Monk's Trunk prefers to work on a consignment basis. With consignment, you'll receive a percentage based on the sales price, after an item sells. The percentage you received is based on the actual sales price. The breakdown is as follows:
* 60% for items that sell for $200 or more;
* 50% for items $51 to $199
* 40% for items $6 to $50;
* 25% for items $5 or less

Consignment works on a seasonal basis. The way to make the most money is to bring things in at the beginning of the season. For fall/winter, that's late August, September, or early October (for heavy winter gear). For spring/summer, that's late February or March. You can bring things in ANY time of year, but Monk's Trunk reserves the right to either store items for a later consignment date or buy them outright, at our discretion.
SELL OUTRIGHT. If consignment won't work for you, we also buy outright. For most items, we offer 25% of the sales price, paid after items are processed (usually 24 hours). Note that we are pickier with things we buy outright, and we seldom buy baby clothes outright.
HEAT TREATMENT FEE. Regardless of whether you are consigning or selling, all lots of clothing received will be subject to a heat treating fee: $2.75 per laundry load. This fee will not be charged up front but will be deducted from your earnings.
